Ribet Myles team shortlisted for prestigious industry award

We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted in the LexisNexis Family Law Awards for the prestigious Financial Remedies Team of the Year award. This category focusses upon and celebrates expertise in dealing with complicated financial cases. These prestigious awards celebrate the work of family lawyers across the length and breadth of the UK.

At Ribet Myles our financial remedies work is wide-ranging and includes:

·       Unravelling complicated financial issues

·       Identifying, tracing and recovering assets

·       Dealing with significant inherited wealth

·       Managing cases with complex issues in relation to valuable business assets

·       Disputes with an international dimension

·       Offshore trusts

·       Tax issues

·       Pensions and pension sharing

·       Pre-nuptial agreements

·       Post-nuptial agreements

These awards are particularly influential as they are judged by a panel of some of the most senior individuals in the profession, including the head of The Family Law Bar Association, parties from The Association of Lawyers for Children, the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, lobbying and support organisation Resolution and editors of the LexisNexis publication, Family Law.

Although we operate as a team, we nonetheless have a range of individuals specialisms. Julian is often instructed on really big-ticket work where one or both of the parties have very significant wealth, there are assets spread across the globe along with complex issues relating to business valuations, tax and trust matters, inherited or pre-marital wealth.

Alistair tends to be instructed in matters where again there are significant assets, often with international elements – and he has a particular interest in the cases that have unusual circumstances, technically challenging aspects and ‘missing assets’ which may have been hidden or disposed of by parties who want to deny their former partners the finances and assets to which they are entitled.

Laura’s instructions are again typically from high- and ultra-high net worth clients, and like Alistair’s specialisms, her work tends to involve complicated points of law or unusual circumstances.

Anna has a strong celebrity caseload – she is trusted by BBC journalists, sheikhs and people who work in the public eye.

Alison is a corporate lawyer by background, meaning that she has a lot of commercial experience which sees her unpicking complicated financial structures, uncovering hidden assets and tracing funds.

Our more junior practitioners Natasha, Georgina and Sorcha are also fundamental to the success of our team and provide support to the partners. Finally, our executive assistants Cassandra and Liz are also incredibly important team members and are often the first people clients speak to.

Speaking about the shortlisting Julian commented “We work very hard to ensure that our clients’ financial positions are protected, whether they come to us for a pre-nuptial agreement, post-nuptial agreement, or at the end of a relationship.

“The whole team understands the importance of finding, maintaining and future-proofing our clients’ assets, and ensuring that everything possible is done to ensure that their monies are protected or enhanced, whether at the start of marriage or a relationship, or where it has ended or is ending.

“To be recognised by leading industry figures for our approach by this shortlisting is testament to the work that every team member at Ribet Myles puts in, day after day.

“I’m delighted that the whole team here has been recognised for their hard work.”

Alistair added “Echoing Julian’s sentiment, this shortlisting reflects the approach taken by the whole Ribet Myles team and their dedication to our clients.

“We place the utmost importance on providing outstanding support to our clients, and this sometimes sees us go to very long lengths to reach financial outcomes that are fair and appropriate.

“When we need to, we fight the good fight for our clients and stand in their corner – even when it is difficult to do so, or it is going to take a long time to get the result they desire.  It is fantastic to be recognised for our approach by our peers.”
