How we do it
Divorce, relationship breakdown and other family issues are upsetting and stressful. It is a time of substantial upheaval and you may be worried about what the future holds.
Our personal touch means your case will be carefully looked after with a bespoke approach. We will always try to be realistic in the advice that we give you and to manage your expectations from the outset. You and your solicitor will quickly establish a close relationship so that we can work out what you would like to achieve and how best to achieve it.
Litigation
We will not litigate unless necessary, and the majority of our cases result in a negotiated settlement. However, there are a proportion of cases that, despite everybody’s best efforts, cannot be settled. We will always work hard to bring about a negotiated settlement and to avoid you becoming involved in long-running court proceedings - unless that is the only way to achieve a fair outcome.
You can have peace of mind knowing that if your case cannot be settled, we know how to litigate forcefully and expertly. Our expert solicitors have been involved in many leading reported cases that have had a significant impact on English Family Law.
We know that litigation is not right for each case. We will negotiate where we can or propose other forms of non-court resolution to reach a mutually agreed settlement quickly and with minimum acrimony.
Professional Relationships
We are proud to have strong, well-established working relationships with the most respected specialist family law barristers in London. We can help you choose the right barrister to represent you and the particular issues in your case. We also have close working relationships with other top tier specialist family law firms, which is to your advantage if your spouse/partner chooses to instruct somebody who is well known to us.
We understand that relationship breakdown may not only affect your family but also third parties, and our clients include individuals, corporations and trustees, many of whom are international. We deal with issues arising from cross-border relationship breakdown and regularly work with lawyers and professional advisors in other countries.
Specialist Advice
If your case needs specialist advice, for example in relation to tax, trusts, accountancy, valuation or property issues, we have developed a global network of contacts with professionals familiar with and able to provide advice on your case, from tax, trust or corporate solicitors, to property experts, valuers and many more.
Changing your solicitor
The outcome of your case will impact upon your financial circumstances for the rest of your life. It’s important that you have a legal team you can trust, and who will progress your case to achieve the best possible outcome.
If you’re unhappy with your current representation it‘s easy to instruct a new firm of solicitors. We’re used to successfully taking over cases and will revitalise your aims and objectives. We provide a proactive, bespoke service to ensure your case receives the attention and support it requires.
Fees
Our promise to you:
We are cost-effective and transparent on fees.
At the outset, we will discuss your case in an initial exploratory, no obligation telephone/Zoom call. There will be no charge for this.
We offer fixed fees for all uncontested divorce cases and our first meeting with you.
We will give you clear estimates as to the costs you are likely to face throughout the process.
We will invoice you monthly to help you budget.
Each monthly invoice will show the breakdown of the time spent on your case by us.
We will agree with you in our first discussion the route by which your case will be funded. If appropriate, we can help you source external funding by way of a loan for litigation or mediation. We have good working relationships with a number of specialist providers of litigation funding for family law cases.
