Julian Ribet features in The Times’ Lawyer of the Week column

Following the recent significant media interest in a family law case won by Ribet Myles partner, Julian Ribet, Julian recently featured in the Times’ prestigious weekly Lawyer of the Week column.

The Times Lawyer of the Week, Julian Ribet of Ribet Myles.

Julian represented Mr Williams in his divorce proceedings. The solicitors for Mrs Williams mistakenly applied to finalise Mr and Mrs Williams’ divorce, despite having no instructions from their client to do so.  The final order of divorce was granted on the same day, divorcing the parties. Mrs Williams’ solicitors then sought to overturn the final order of divorce, and were initially successful, before the matter was heard by President of the Family Division of the High Court, Sir Andrew McFarlane.  His judgment was that the final order stood and that the parties were and remain divorced.

As a result of the significant media interest in this case, which was covered by the BBCThe TimesThe GuardianThe Evening StandardThe Daily MailThe SunThe Law Gazette and many other media outlets, Julian was invited to discuss the case, and his career to date, with The Times.

Julian commented “I’m delighted to have been invited to talk about this extraordinary case and my career as a family lawyer. Being able to support people through separation and divorce and having the responsibility of helping them resolve financial and children related disputes is a privilege and extremely satisfying from a professional perspective.”

“As I said in the Lawyer of the Week feature, a good divorce can really help people move on to a brighter and happier future. It is always wonderful to be able to help a client, to make their lives a little bit easier, or to secure them a better financial future. I love my work and it’s been a real pleasure to be able to shed a bit of light on what it’s like to practice as a family lawyer in London.”
